There are certain bloggers that I'm just absolutely fascinated with. Their stories, travels, and lifestyle is so intriguing, I can't help but stalk their blogs just waiting for another post! Casey is one of those bloggers. Not only am I insanely jealous over her constant travels, but she also hails from Portland, Oregon. Love that! Two Year Expat Anniversary
The past two years have been good to us. If you've been following along with our journey as long as I've been writing about it, you know it's been quite the adventure. We're happy because adventure is exactly what we were wanting. Today marks two years of being an expat. I remember our initial journey over like it was yesterday, probably because I was sicker than a dog and embarrassing everyone on the plane (ok maybe not that bad, but it felt like it). Thankfully I haven't had any more bouts of travel sickness other than slight anxiety sometimes, and I've been willingly stepping on planes ever since. I couldn't be more excited for this third year abroad, and am very curious to see what the future holds for us. In the past two years, we've ... Read More
10 Travel Resolutions To Keep This Year (Guest Post)
I was really excited when Casey (We Took the Road Less Traveled) agreed to guest post for me. If you're into travel blogs and you haven't discovered her stellar blog yet, then you must have been living under a rock. This girl constantly fuels my wanderlust with posts of her cruises through the Mediterranean, and hanging out in the infamous German markets. She'll make you green with envy quickly. And yet again she's giving us another excellent post, yet this time on MY blog! Without further adieu, Casey. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10 Travel Resolutions To Keep This Year 1| See less, experience more Amend to stop being one of those travelers that gravitates towards the predictable, ... 2013-Our Year in Travels.
One of my favorite things to do is reflect back on all the adventures and fun things we did throughout the year, and 2013 was a heck of a year. We really enjoyed 2012, but had so many opportunities this year to travel, experience new things, and see more of Korea. I'm not going to sit here and write about what I'm expecting from 2014, because I have absolutely no expectations. Life gives us so many surprises and opportunities, it's impossible to predict the future! All I know is that its going to be yet another wonderful year with my husband, filled with excitement, adventure, and yet again…travels! Happy New Year to all, and be safe in all your festivities! Just in case you were wondering, here are Living in Another Language's yearly stats ... Read More
Three Years Ago the Wedding Bells Rang
Well not really. We had our wedding on a cliffside (Ecola State Park) overlooking Cannon Beach, Oregon, and had our music played from an ipod hooked into a few speakers. I don't think a single person could complain of the beauty this location gave. No need for wedding decor, nature already took care of that! It was a great location for a destination wedding, and after I received the park permit for $15 dollars we were set to go. We had our wedding on a Monday of all days..mainly because it was one of the only days the park had available in August, and it happened to be on Derik's birthday. So yes, we got married on my husband's birthday. He jokes around that he planned it that way just so he wouldn't forget the anniversary. To this day ... Read More
Cocoppa: an ocd iphone lover’s dream
I recently stumbled upon the greatest app invented ever. I should first of all mention that I sometimes get a little ocd about things. My phone is no acceptation. I love things to be uniformed, organized, and matching. In the last five years, I've dealt with my ugly mismatched icons glaring me in the face every time I slid back the unlock button. I'm here to tell you I no longer have to be tortured by this. Cocoppa is an app developed somewhere in Asia (go figure) that allows you to install adorable shortcuts to use instead of the regular app icon. What this means for you is that you can select new icons (can I mention again that these are shortcuts?) for almost all your apps, and throw all your ugly 'real' app icons (you can't delete ... Recipes: boneless bbq chicken
I was looking back through some of my old posts, and I came across 'That BBQ Chicken.' This was a post I had written a little over a year ago about how we were adapting to our new lives in Korea. I distinctly remember not eating much of anything when we first got here...due to not knowing how to go about buying what we were comfortable with cooking. There was an abundance of kimchi and strange looking fish to go around, but our appetites weren't ready to take on such 'foreign' food. I will never forget the first time we received an order of chicken. We bought it off of Gmarket, and honestly I was a little sketched out by the idea of ordering poultry off of a website similar to Ebay. The chicken quality was pretty terrible, but it was the ... How to Grow Your Travel Blog
As a new travel blogger, you can often feel like you're a tiny anthill sitting amongst a bunch of mountains, unseen and barely noticed. It might seem to you that there is absolutely no hope when it comes to growing your travel blog or gaining interest from readers, companies, and other blogs. You shouldn't fret though, we've all been there. Every single blogger has started from the very bottom with zero readers and influence, and somehow has managed to work their way up to where they are today. Growing a blog takes dedication, commitment, research, and time. Every once in a blue moon, a blog will pop out of nowhere and grow from 100 to 100,000 readers overnight and it leaves us wondering how the heck they did it. Going viral ... Read More
Pearl Harbor
Since today is Veteran's Day back in the U.S., it only seemed fitting to post something a bit patriotic. I already wrote from my heart on how I feel about Veteran's Day on Instagram, and from reading that you'll know I am very proud of our enlisted: past, present, and future. If you haven't thanked a veteran or a military service member yet for the things they have done for our country, you better get on it. Back in January we had the opportunity to tour Pearl Harbor during our time in Hawaii with my family. Both my father and my brother-in-law are currently serving in the military, and my brother is also quite the history buff, so visiting this historic site was top of our list. We spent about 3 hours walking though the visitor ... Read More
