The past two years have been good to us. If you’ve been following along with our journey as long as I’ve been writing about it, you know it’s been quite the adventure. We’re happy because adventure is exactly what we were wanting.
Today marks two years of being an expat. I remember our initial journey over like it was yesterday, probably because I was sicker than a dog and embarrassing everyone on the plane (ok maybe not that bad, but it felt like it). Thankfully I haven’t had any more bouts of travel sickness other than slight anxiety sometimes, and I’ve been willingly stepping on planes ever since. I couldn’t be more excited for this third year abroad, and am very curious to see what the future holds for us.
In the past two years, we’ve been given a taste for traveling the world, and I can guarantee you that we will be exploring it for the rest of our lives.
Now, here’s a few of our travel stats for your viewing pleasure!
-We’ve been on 39+ airline flights each in the past two years.
-We’ve stayed in 29+ hotel rooms.
-We’ve traveled to 8 countries.
-We’ve been transported by: foot, bus, plane, motorcycle, scooter, car, boat, ferry, tricycle, electric bicycles, and an elephant.
-The strangest foods that we’ve eaten: sea urchin and chicken feet.
-The worst hotel room we’ve ever stayed in: Phu Quoc, Vietnam (hello giant plate sized spiders).
-Most unexpected price tag: Manicure in South Korea costing $180. Gross.
-Favorite sightseeing activity: Snorkeling with Manta Rays at night.
-Most Picturesque Location: Kyoto, Japan.
-Scariest Encounter: Geoje, South Korea (hello drunk man chasing us with a broken glass bottle).
-Favorite airline to travel by far was Hawaiian Air.
-And Malaysia goes down in the books for having the coolest looking currency.
Year three? We’re ready.
