Our final day in Vietnam came faster than we wanted. We were just getting into the groove of Phu Quoc when it was time to leave.
We woke up early and spent the morning sipping coffee and eating breakfast on the beach. Picturesque and dreamy right?
After breakfast we headed down the beach to enjoy the last final rays of tropical sun that we could before heading off for frozen South Korea.
I also enjoyed some fresh fruit for lunch. In South Korea right now, watermelons go for about $25 a piece. I think I bought this fruit plate for $1.50. If it was up to me, I’d eat fruit for lunch and dinner every day!
We headed out for the Phu Quoc airport around 4:00pm for the short flight into Ho Chi Minh (35 min). Our flight out of HCM did not depart until 8:00, so we did a little bit of walking around.
This guy (pictured below) was a motorbike ‘taxi.’ Guys like him were stationed at almost all the corners of major intersections. I can’t imagine how strange it would be to hop on a strangers bike and hold on tight!
Our departure date also happened to be New Year’s Eve. It definitely went down in history as one of the most uneventful. I spent the New Year’s countdown with a brutal headache waiting in the terminal.
Before you feel sorry for me…just remember I had spent 8 days in tropical paradise! New Year’s 2013 will go down as my first out of the USA. I’m so happy I was able to spend it with Derik and great friends!
